In this page I'll present you with some recent economic information about my country. Hope it will be of interest for you and you'll come back for more, helping to maintain at least some traffic on my dead site :) . Most of the information will be taken from http://logos.press.md - the official site of Logos-Press, the only newspaper in Moldova that is dedicated entirely to Moldovan economy. The site, as well as the newspaper itself, is in Russian.

* According to the official statistics, during 1996-99, Moldovan exports covered only 70 % of imports, and in only 6 months in year 2000 the difference reached over $125 million (10/11/00).

* Probably the only real brand name in Moldova - the 'White Stork' (Белый Аист) brand of brandy was sold to a Russian company for $700 000. This was probably the only brand name known in Russia and other countries, and, since wines and spirits are one of the main export positions in Moldovan current account, this transaction will mean loss of millions of US dollars for the Moldovan economy. So the special government council is investigating the deal, hoping to find it illegal in any way to abort it (10/11/00).
